The Lubbock community is reeling from the sudden loss of Austin Reel, 19, who passed away on March 26, 2026, following a motorcycle crash in central Lubbock.
According to the Lubbock Police Department, officers responded to a collision with injuries at approximately 12:34 p.m. in the 4000 block of 19th Street. Upon arrival, they found Austin suffering from severe injuries after his motorcycle collided with a raised median and guardrail while he was entering the on-ramp to the Marsha Sharp Freeway. The force of the crash caused Austin to be ejected from the motorcycle.
Emergency responders rushed him to University Medical Center, but despite their best efforts, he was later pronounced deceased. The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is actively working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
Austin is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and loved ones as a vibrant young man whose energy and warmth had a lasting impact on those around him. Described as full of life, Austin’s sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
