The community is mourning the loss of 66-year-old Todd Willingham of Mishawaka, Indiana, following a fatal crash in Jefferson Township, Michigan, on Tuesday, March 25, 2026. According to Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach, deputies responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Oil City Road, south of M62.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Willingham’s vehicle was traveling southbound on Oil City Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, and Willingham was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

Assisting agencies, including the Michigan State Police (MSP), SMCAS EMS, and the Cass Central Fire Department, worked diligently to secure the area and assist with the recovery efforts.

Sheriff Roach and his team are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, though no further details have been released at this time.
