March 28, 2026 – A devastating early morning accident has claimed the life of 19-year-old Jaeden Del Rio, leaving a community in mourning and underscoring the dangers of reckless driving.
According to the Wichita Falls Police Department, officers responded shortly after 1:00 a.m. Friday to reports of an injury accident near the intersection of Ireland Street and Perigo Street. After canvassing the area, authorities located the crash site in a field just west of the intersection, where they discovered Del Rio unresponsive. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders and emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Del Rio was one of three individuals involved in the incident, during which a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was being used to perform “donuts” in the field. Authorities report that Del Rio was seated on the door of the moving vehicle, with his torso extended outside, when the driver lost control. The vehicle rolled multiple times, resulting in fatal injuries.
The two other occupants were not seriously injured, though their roles in the incident remain part of an active and ongoing investigation. Officials are continuing to gather evidence and statements as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
This tragic loss has prompted renewed concern over reckless driving behaviors, particularly in informal or rural settings where such activities often occur. The incident serves as a somber reminder of how quickly dangerous decisions can lead to irreversible consequences.
Authorities have notified Del Rio’s family and expressed their deepest condolences. As the investigation continues, the community reflects on a young life lost far too soon, and officials urge all drivers to prioritize safety and responsibility behind the wheel.
