It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Jordan Thoms, a beloved leader, friend, and cornerstone of Ottawa’s running community. His loss is felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing in the energy and encouragement he brought to every run.
As the dedicated run lead of the Sparks Street Run Club, Jordan was far more than an organizer—he was its heartbeat. He created an environment where runners of all abilities felt welcome, supported, and motivated. Whether guiding first-time participants or running alongside seasoned athletes, he made each person feel valued. Under his leadership, simple runs became meaningful gatherings defined by camaraderie and connection.
Originally from Prince George, British Columbia, Jordan carried a deep sense of community wherever he went. He formed friendships that extended far beyond the routes he mapped, building lasting bonds rooted in kindness and shared experience. His positivity was constant, his encouragement genuine, and his presence unforgettable.
Jordan was a devoted son to his mother, Marlene, and a cherished brother to Ryan Malchow and Garrett Thoms. His love for his family was evident in the way he lived—with compassion, strength, and sincerity. Those closest to him take comfort in knowing how widely that love extended into the lives of others.
