Nora Saldana Tragic Collision Marana, AZ Death and Obituary: In Loving Memory

MARANA, Arizona — A devastating two-vehicle crash in the early hours of March 25, 2026, claimed the lives of 48-year-old Nora Saldana and a 17-year-old juvenile female. The collision occurred around 1:22 a.m. along the Interstate 10 Frontage Road, between West Tangerine Road and West Avra Valley Road, on the west side of Interstate 10.

Marana Police Department officers, along with personnel from the Northwest Fire District, responded promptly to the scene, finding five individuals involved in the crash. Two of the victims were unresponsive. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, both Saldana and the juvenile female were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The Marana Police Department has confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

The vehicles involved were identified as a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a 2021 Honda Civic. Preliminary investigations reveal that the Jeep Liberty was traveling northwest in the correct lane when the Honda Civic, carrying four occupants, was traveling southeast in the wrong lane, directly into the path of the Jeep. The resulting head-on collision caused severe damage to both vehicles. Investigators noted that no signs of impairment were observed in either driver.

This section of roadway is a two-lane frontage road, with one lane designated for northwest travel and the other for southeast. The nature of the crash highlights the dangers of wrong-way driving, even when factors such as impairment and speeding are ruled out.

The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. No citations or arrests have been made at this time.

As the community comes to terms with this heartbreaking loss, Marana Police extend their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to lane designations to prevent similar tragedies.
